SHRM New Orleans provides support and resources for a successful entry into the HR profession. We are here to help you develop career skills and enhance your understanding of Human Resources.

FALL 2025 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP - $1,000

Purpose: to assist students in paying for the upcoming academic year. The student’s semester or academic term must begin in Fall 2025 to be eligible for this scholarship. This award may not be used to cover past expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking undergraduate program with at least one full semester remaining before graduation.
  • The Metro New Orleans Community College or University is a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • The degree program is HR-related (e.g., business, psychology, HR, organizational development, etc.).  A minimum Grade Point Average: Undergraduate - Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Deadline to apply: Tuesday, 9/30/25

Please include the following documents:

• Current resume

• The cover letter should include your academic study program and career aspirations. Include why you are applying for the scholarship.

• Transcripts from an accredited institution. Transcripts can be "unofficial", but we reserve the right to request an official transcript if additional verification is needed.

• One Letter of Reference. Letters may be written by academic advisors, coaches, professors, etc., but should not come directly from the applicant or the applicant's family members. Please know, your application is not complete until your letter of recommendation is submitted.

Please keep a copy of your application for your records before you submit it. Once you submit your application, the SHRM NEW ORLEANS Scholarship Committee will not be able to return it to you, in whole or in part, for any reason. Applications are evaluated and scored by the SHRM NEW ORLEANS Scholarship Committee. All decisions are final. If selected to receive the Fall 2025 Academic Scholarship, the recipient must provide proof of enrollment and college/university payment instructions. The Scholarship winner will be announced by November 7, 2025.  The disbursement of $1,000 will be awarded before 12/31/25.

Notes:

  • Each scholarship is a one-time award.
  • Full-time, part-time, online, and distance learning programs are acceptable if they are part of the Metro New Orleans Community College or University system.
  • Scholarships are for college-degree programs only and may not be used to attend professional development seminars.
  • Recipients will be expected to submit proof of enrollment with their application. Please note that the NOLA SHRM 2025 Academic Scholarship does not reimburse for any fees or any associated expenses incurred before the Fall 2025 semester. NOLA SHRM Board Members and the immediate family are not eligible to apply for this academic scholarship.
