Speaker Bio
Dr. Tranell E. Barton, a distinguished educator and native of New Orleans, was reared in an
environment where education was valued and lived, with family members deeply entrenched in
the field. Since 2019, Dr. Barton has enriched the academic community as an adjunct faculty
member at Delgado, where she imparts her expertise in Real Estate, Business Administration,
and Adult Basic Education. Her extensive career in learning and development spans over a
decade. It includes a remarkable 22-year tenure with the New Orleans Metropolitan Association
of REALTORS®, where she served as Governmental Affairs Coordinator and Sr. Professional
Development Trainer.
Dr. Barton's educational achievements are a testament to her unwavering commitment to
personal and professional growth. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from
Grambling State University ('95), a Master of Business Administration from the University of
Phoenix ('07), and culminated her academic journey with a Master of Educational Leadership
and a Doctor of Educational Leadership and Administration ('20). Her dedication to continuous
improvement is further evidenced by her Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion certifications as a
Certified Distance Educator Instructor with the International Distance Education Certification
Center (IDECC), a Google Certified Educator Level 1, and a Certified Trainer with the Louisiana
Real Estate Commission.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Barton's professional contributions are diverse and impactful. She has
served as a Learning and Development Trainer/Talent Management Consultant at LSU Health
Science Center, Adjunct Faculty at ITT Technical Institute, and Broadcast Production Supervisor
at WPXL-TV Channel 49. Her expertise has been sought after and shared at prestigious
conferences such as the Louisiana Association of Public, Community, and Mountain Plains
Adult Education Conference, National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development
Conference, and Disrupt HR NOLA.
Dr. Barton's commitment to community and service is as profound as her professional
dedication. She serves as Vice President of the Grambling University National Alumni
Association Crescent City Chapter. She is actively involved in the Coalition on Adult Basic
Education, the Independent Women's Organization, and the Junior League of New Orleans. Her
leadership extends to her role as an honorary Metro Center for Community Affairs board
member and an active Jane Place Neighborhood Sustainability Initiative board member. Dr.
Barton's involvement in her church as a youth counselor, program administrator, and scholarship
committee member further demonstrates her dedication to community service and youth
development.
Driven by a passion for lifelong learning and community empowerment, Dr. Barton has
participated in esteemed fellowship programs with the Loyola University of New Orleans
Institute of Politics and the Urban League of Greater New Orleans ULEAD Program. In her
time, Dr. Barton enjoys reading, shopping, traveling, and cherishing moments with loved ones.
Her mission is to share knowledge that enhances the lives of others, embodying a dedication to
making life experiences more productive and enriching.
