Summary

We will take a dive into the rapidly evolving workforce landscape, and the myriad of new responsibilities HR professionals must now manage. This report identifies Six Realities facing employers this year, and offers solutions.

We will talk about ways in which organizations can realize and understand how to deal with the rapidly changing work environment and how benefits can play a role in addressing some those needs. Realities include Workforce Demands, Change management, Creative Cost Savings, DE&I, Mental Health and enhanced benefits.

Speaker Bios

Will Smith

Will joined Eustis Insurance & Benefits (now MMA) in September 2016 as a benefits advisor centered on business development. His focus is helping businesses design long term employee benefit programs that improve both business operations and employee engagement. Given Will’s background, he also assists business owners and executives with business continuation, executive compensation/benefits, and individual insurance planning and retirement solutions. Prior to joining Eustis Insurance & Benefits, Mr. Smith served as a financial advisor at Northwestern Mutual for nearly nine years. He specialized in personal and business planning through insurance and investment management.  He is licensed in both life & health and property & casualty insurance.  Will is an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he serves on multiple boards, one of which includes the “Loaves and Fishes” feeding program.  Will is a graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South. He resides in New Orleans with his wife, Ginger, and three children and can usually be found at Carrollton Boosters watching or coaching his children’s sports teams.

Patrick Morrison, RHU

Patrick is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma with a degree in Management Information Systems. He began his Employee Benefits career 28 years ago in Dallas, TX. Patrick moved to New Orleans in 1999 and since then has made his home in South Louisiana. Patrick has experience working for both Insurance Companies and as an Employee Benefits Consultant. Patrick’s experience gives him an advantage of knowing how insurance companies operate. At Eustis / MMA, his focus is to advise employers with 50 -1000 employees to develop, implement, plan and provide strategic financial analysis on a wide array of employee benefit programs. Patrick has been on the board of Directors of NOLA SHRM for 4 years, currently serving as the Professional Development Chair. Patrick is also the elected President of the New Orleans Track Club (NOTC) one of the oldest and largest nonprofit running organizations in the US, with over 1700 members.

Jeff Casabat

Jeff is part of local MMA leadership, representing the NOLA EH&B team when interacting with regional and national Employee Health & Benefits leaders.  As an advisor, he manages a book of business comprised of several long-term clients.  Jeff approaches his clients’ needs with a proactive, strategic philosophy.  Continuously evaluating client objectives to ensure their benefits programs have a multi-year approach.

He joined MMA in November 2019, transferring from our sister-company, Mercer Health & Benefits, where he served as a producing consultant working on middle-market accounts.  Jeff brings experience from all sides of the employee benefits business working as a large group medical sales executive for Coventry/Aetna. He held a senior-level management role of Louisiana operations for a national insurance brokerage agency, and early in his career was an insurance buyer, working in both the financial and management side for multiple businesses. 

Jeff is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science, and followed with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans.  As an active member of the Northshore Society of Human Resources, he serves on their board a sponsorship chair.  Jeff is married with daughters. In addition to enjoying time with family and friends, he and his wife, Debbie, love to cook, their morning exercise routine, biking and walking their dog, Juneaux.
