About the Speaker
Heather Mazac joined USI Southwest’s office in 2020 as in-house ERISA Counsel, focused on helping USI clients stay compliant with requirements of various benefits laws.
Before joining USI, Heather worked for the U.S. Department of Labor in the Employee Benefits Security Administration. She also practiced law for the City of Dallas and the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Heather has over 12 years of employee benefits law experience.
As ERISA Counsel, Heather monitors changes in benefits laws (health care reform, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.), provides assistance to clients with respect to specific legal questions (discrimination, privacy, etc.), conducts seminars to distribute legislative requirements, and writes weekly updates covering new developments and general issues regarding health and welfare plans, among many other things.
She earned her B.A., M.S. and Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce and her J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
Originally from Garland, TX, Heather now resides in Grand Prairie, TX with her four children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching football, and travelling.
