Are you interested in furthering your career, building your network of professionals, strengthening your leadership skills and implementing new ideas within your HR community? If so, NOLA SHRM has an incredible opportunity for you!
I am Damona Barnes and I am honored to be serving the NOLA SHRM membership as the 2021 President. We are looking for new board members and would be thrilled to have you as part of our team!
Having members who are both willing and excited to serve their fellow members as volunteer leaders has always been critical to our success and growth as a SHRM chapter and to our individual growth as HR professionals. Serving on the Board allows you unique opportunities to lead, influence, network and develop competencies that may not be available in your current HR role. Additionally, HRCI and SHRM recertification credit is available to individuals who serve on their local SHRM affiliate’s Board.
If you are committed to your HR profession, willing to work on a team that shares that commitment while making it fun, and supported by your employer in that commitment, why not consider a Board role in 2021? To learn more about each position click on the link below.
Board Member positions require attendance at our monthly Board meetings which are the first Monday of each month from 5:30-7:00pm. Additionally, they will require varying amounts of extra time depending upon the project or time of year. Committee members generally require much less of a time commitment and do not attend board meetings.
If you are interested please complete this form or if you know someone who would be an awesome addition to our team, please forward this to them.
Nominations/Interest need to be submitted by July 31st, 2020. The committee will shortly thereafter evaluate the nominations with the goal of providing a slate to the membership in August.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.

COVID-19 has caused the cancellation of SHRM20 in San Diego.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – May 11, 2020: Regretfully, SHRM must cancel the SHRM 2020 Annual Conference & Exposition as we have recently been informed by the San Diego Convention Center that they will not be able to host us for this event.
This was a difficult decision, but it was based on directives from the state of California, the City of San Diego, and out of a need to keep participants and the community safe.
Though we can’t convene in-person, SHRM is offering new programming just for you on this page monthly until SHRM21 on June 20-23rd in Chicago. All SHRM20 pass holders have a reserved spot at SHRM21! To learn more about the event changes, here is the official statement.
